Welcome to the Geohazards Research Lab

At Tufts School of Engineering, Geohazards Engineering research currently addresses hazards such as earthquakes and landslides. We use this website to document our progress and to share our results with collaborators. At this time, our work generally fits into three different categories: modeling, mapping, and design. We often use empirical and theoretical models to describe and predict a natural hazard, such as soil liquefaction or ground shaking intensity. We are also particularly interested in how these models can inform hazard maps, where the paucity of available data often requires that we use simple empirical models.
